Currency

Although Aruba's paper currency is the florin (the guilder), U.S. dollars are accepted everywhere.

Because of world wide counterfeiting, some stores will not accept $50 or $100 bills.
There is no charge for using travelers checks.

Bank cards from Cirrus, Maestro, Mastercard, & Visa are accepted at ATM's & many establishments.

Taxis

Taxi rates are government controlled based on destination & number of passengers. Always ask how much before getting in the taxi.

U.S. Customs

All passengers flying back to the United States must be at the airport 2-3 hours before departure. You go through U.S. customs while IN Aruba, which makes it very easy when you arrive home. Duty free exemption is $800 per person.
